GoCommando is fast
becoming the brand of choice for women who demand no-compromise
sportswear.
The process begins with design – striking the balance
between form and function. The point is to be invisible, the body's second
skin. The fact is that you're going to sweat. A lot. You need pro
sportswear – you deserve it – and it's no crime to look great.
That's why GoCommando sportswear is made by hand,
using
the highest quality materials. Five years from now it will look as
good and work as hard as it does today. Just like you.
And to ensure the perfect silhouette, GoCommando
(quite naturally) favours the underwear-free look. Our tops offer support,
our bottoms cotton panels. We even offer a mesh waist-band, so you can
show off that lower back tattoo (or your thong if you can't be parted from
it!).
Whatever your experience, no matter your size,
GoCommando's the perfect fit.
Originally conceived by Jan Jozavi and David
Hofberg, GoCommando arose out of Jan's frustration finding sportswear
that meets her exacting standards as a life-long gym-goer, dancer and
fitness instructor.
Over the course of its initial year, GoCommando went
from sub-contracting hand-tailored garments to creating original designs
and sourcing the finest materials and manufacturing facilities
worldwide. This led in turn to the creation of GCPro, a subsidiary that
creates unique designs for "professional" athletes.
GoCommando suffered a tremendous setback in its
second year when Jan had to leave the company for personal reasons.
Despite this, we go from strength to strength, gaining in confidence all
the while. Just like our clients, we have to take the knocks and get on
with it, and 2006 promises to be our best year yet!
Spell it gocommando, go-commando or go commando, the
verb/expression "go commando"/"going commando" means, simply, to not wear
underwear.
Its origin is elusive. The implication is that to not
wear underwear is a trait attributable to commandoes, who presumably don't
wear any. After all, if a commando goes behind enemy lines for weeks or
months, water, food, communications and munitions - the tools of their
trade and survival - are of greater importance than a change of clothes.
In sport, our tools are our bodies; sportswear
expresses style, attitude, individuality, and, at its best, enhances our
performance. As a sportswear company, we strive to meet and exceed these
goals. And so to us, GoCommando means three things:
-
Go: positive, action.
-
Commando: physical fitness, endurance.
-
The combination of the two: all of the above, plus
sexy!
